Stan Musial with Gary Kolb (l) and Mike Shannon (r) The two assumed to take over for Musial. However Kolb never materialized, Shannon was moved to right field, Charlie James manned left field, Carl Warwick was traded back from Houston as a right fielder. Then mid-season 1964 the Cardinals traded for Lou Brock. The rest is history.
