Mickey was born in Spavinaw, Okalhoma, but when he was 4 years old the family moved to Cardin where his father "Mutt" worked in the lead and zinc mines. The picture was taken in 1925-1926, 5-6 years before Mantle was born. These were the years of peak production of lead and zinc mining in the tri-state region.
