1946 – Harry Simmons, International League executive, presents the International League Most Valuable Player Award for the 1945 season to Sherm Lollar. Lollar was a member of the Baltimore Orioles, a Class AA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians at the time. Lollar collected 34 home runs and 111 rbi’s with a .364 batting average and a slugging percentage of .659 in 139 games for the 1945 season. As a side-note, this was Simmons first day on the job.
