October 8, 1956 - World Series Game 5. Mantle makes what he called "the greatest catch of his career" to help preserve Don Larsen's perfect game aagainst the Dodgers. With one out in the top of the 5th inning, Gil Hodges launches a blast into deep left center field, Yankee Stadiums's "death valley." The ball would carry about 420 feet. Mantle raced to his right, lunged and made a back handed grab of Hodges bid for extra bases.

For good measure, Mantle also homered in the bottom of the 4th inning, staking the Yanks to 1-0 lead.
