8/11/1961 - Warren Spahn becomes the 13th major league pitcher to win 300 games and the first to do so since 1941, beating the Chicago Cubs 2-1. The last pitcher to post 300 wins was Lefty Grove in 1941, the year before Spahn broke in with the Boston Braves in 1942.
