According to lore he brought his car to a stop in a cloud of dust and proceeded on to the field where upon he proceed to tear Mickey a new one and dress him down in front of all gathered there. Later in his professional career Mantle batted right-handed against a right handed pitcher, and said something to the effect, "now the ghost is dead."
