October 15, 1964 World Series Game 7. Bob Gibson pitches in the top of the ninth inning in Game 7 of the World Series. Despite giving up solo home runs to Clete Boyer and Phil Linz in the inning, Gibson held on to win the game 7-5 giving the Cardinals the World Championship 4 games to 3. Gibson pitched a complete game on two days rest after going 10 innings in the Game 5 series win. Gibson won 2 of 3 starts in the series striking out a total of 31 Yankees and was named the World Series MVP.
